With emergency funding support from The Community Chest of Hong Kong, Oxfam Hong Kong, and The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, HKFWC assisted more than 1,200 affected families with relief applications, reaching over 60% of all affected households. The Association also distributed donated supplies and daily necessities to families in need, helping residents cope with their immediate post-disaster needs.
Beyond emergency relief, HKFWC mobilised proceeds from its Flag Day fundraising campaign and donations from the wider community to provide ongoing support, including a dedicated hotline, community talks, legal and financial consultations, intensive case management, therapeutic and emotional support groups, and other services. These initiatives addressed residents’ diverse needs throughout the processes of temporary accommodation, recovery, and rebuilding their lives, while helping them restore stability and reconnect with their community.
This community response demonstrated HKFWC’s longstanding commitment to the Tai Po community and its mission of standing alongside women in times of crisis. We believe that recovering from a disaster is not only about rebuilding homes, but also about restoring human connections, rebuilding confidence in the future, and strengthening community resilience. Beyond providing immediate assistance, HKFWC is committed to accompanying women and families throughout their recovery journey, working together with the community to rebuild hope, foster mutual support, and create a more resilient future.
