In light of the soaring fifth wave of COVID-19, ten funders jointly initiate the second phase of the "WU WU CHENG" Community Mutual Support Initiative, which aims to alleviate the immediate needs of grassroots families and small businesses as well as stimulate the local consumption by the distribution of the "district-based" consumption vouchers. We are one of the operators, and the Jockey Club Lai Kok Centre is responsible for implementing this Initiative in Sham Shui Po District. A total of 260 families and 16 small businesses in Sham Shui Po District benefited from this Initiative.
To understand the effectiveness of the Initiative, we conducted a survey of the benefited families in Sham Shui Po District between August and October 2022. We eventually collected 199 responses. In the survey, the respondents are requested to rate the improvements caused by the second phase of the "WU WU CHENG" Community Mutual Support Initiative in multiple aspects including economy, physical health, mentality, family relationship, and social from 0 to 5 marks. The result shows that the improvement shows that Initiative caused significant improvement to the respondents in all the above-mentioned aspects since the average value of all aspects is more than 4. We also collected the recommendation for the Initiative, more than 90%of respondents suggest sustaining the implementation of the Initiative. Around 80% of respondents propose to increase the quota of the Initiative and the type of small businesses.
The comments from the respondents about the Initiative are shown in the below picture. You can also visit the video made by the volunteers about the Initiative!
