To strengthen staff capacity in meeting facilitation within teamwork and service practice, and to more consciously integrate a gender perspective into everyday work, the Association organised the “Gender-Informed Group Leadership Workshop – Meeting Facilitation.” We invited George to share insights from Reinventing Organizations, guiding staff to rethink how meetings are designed and facilitated.
Through exploring different organisational models represented by various “colours,” staff learned to distinguish between different types of meetings and to reflect on important questions within the meeting process:
- Who tends to speak more easily?
- Whose voices are more often overlooked?
- How are decisions made?
The workshop also guided staff in designing discussion processes according to different levels of participation in decision-making. It encouraged greater attention to inclusivity and gender sensitivity in both chairing and facilitation, so that voices from different backgrounds and experiences can be heard. In this way, meetings can become spaces for genuine dialogue and consensus-building, rather than merely procedural exercises.
Through this training, we hope to support staff in planning and leading meetings more intentionally in their daily work, translating a gender perspective into concrete facilitation practices. In doing so, we seek to nurture a team culture grounded in respect, diversity and collaboration, while unlocking the collective wisdom of the team.
