From Unseen to Seen - Creative Showcase Project

"When the storm passes, you might not fully understand how you managed to survive it. In fact, you might not even be sure whether the storm is truly over.
But one thing is certain: the person who emerges from that storm is no longer the same as the one who first stepped into it."
— Haruki Murakami, Kafka on the Shore

Guided by three cross-disciplinary mentors, a group of Hong Kong women creators from diverse backgrounds explore the theme of psychological violence, those invisible wounds hidden in relationships through verbal manipulation, emotional isolation, and invisible pressure. Though unseen, these forces leave lasting scars.

Through reflecting on their everyday lives and gendered experiences, these women have transformed their stories into a collection of artworks spanning visual art × theatrical portraiture × sound performance. Each piece invites you to feel the profound and far-reaching impact of psychological abuse.

While such violence can be terrifying, it is not forever.

Let us see, reclaim, and rebuild our inner strength, facing this imperfect world with renewed awareness and an awakened sense of self. ????

On the eve of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, you are invited to join us from November 22–26 at The Mills, to explore the many dimensions of psychological abuse.

You are also welcome to attend the Opening Ceremony on November 22 (Saturday) at 3:00 PM, featuring a cross-disciplinary dialogue among a senior lawyer, a clinical psychologist, and an artist on the theme of Psychologicalabuse, marking the official opening of this meaningful exhibition. ????

✨This project is jointly curated by the Hong Kong Federation of Women’s Centres and Zonta Club of Kowloon, with venue support from 南豐紗廠The Mills, In Time Of, and Arty Moment, and full support from Zonta Club of Kowloon II|九龍崇德二社.
