1206 Flag Day (Hong Kong Island)

On 6 December, we held a Flag Day on Hong Kong Island to support those in need who were affected by the Tai Po fire, as well as community recovery efforts. A total of HK$448,691.35 was raised through the Flag Day campaign. The related expenses amounted to HK$42,148.67, which were fully covered by the HKFWC General Fund. Therefore, the entire amount of HK$448,691.35 raised from the Flag Day campaign will be used in full to support those in need affected by the Tai Po fire and to advance community recovery initiatives.

The impact of a fire extends far beyond the moment the incident occurs. In the days and months that follow, it continues to affect the daily lives, emotional wellbeing, and recovery process of impacted residents and families. In addition to providing immediate emergency assistance, the Association will continue to focus on community support and post-disaster recovery in the period ahead. Support services will be rolled out in phases, including caring phone calls, community activities, community sharing sessions, legal consultation services, financial planning support, home visits, intensive case support and counselling, as well as other appropriate assistance. We hope to walk alongside residents through this difficult time, helping them gradually rebuild their daily routines and reconnect with the community.

We deeply understand that every donation and every act of solidarity represents support and encouragement for those affected. We sincerely thank all donors, volunteers, partner organisations, foundations, and corporate partners who supported this Flag Day. It is through your companionship and generosity that this support can continue, standing with residents in times of hardship. Looking ahead, we will continue to provide appropriate support according to needs, walking side by side with residents and accompanying the community on its path towards recovery.
