On 22 June 2019, the annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony 2018/19 was held at Wonder Land Seafood Restaurant in Sham Shui Po. Close to 300 volunteers joined in the celebration. We took the opportunity to express our appreciation to the volunteers’ contribution to our centre, our operations and the users.
In the past year, we initiated several projects, such as Carer Cafe, Jockey Club All Brilliant Carers Project, Jockey Club Mental Wellness Project for Women and others. We appreciate the volunteers who have been working with us to provide new services, assist more women in need and improve our services.
This year, there were 80 volunteers awarded the long service award, breaking a new record. Four of them were awarded the 25-year service award. Amongst them, four award recipients were lawyers who have continuously provided free legal services to women during these 25 years. Our senior volunteers for women’s hotline have also provided instant and appropriate counselling support to women with marital problems.
On this celebration day, our staff and volunteers enjoyed a special dinner and ended with our staff singing the Cantenese song 千千闕歌 to commemorate the event. Our centre looks forward to continuing our work with the volunteers and providing services for the benefits of our users. We also hope more volunteers will participate in our annual event next year.
